Impulse dampening core apparently helps riders stay in the saddle for longer

Spank introduces ‘VibroCore’ to handlebars

Spank has introduced VibroCore, a technology applied to alloy handlebars that dampens vibrations, much the same as a carbon bar would.

The first question many will ask is "what’s the weight penalty" and there is approximately 20 grams to add to the weight of any bar using VibroCore.

Spank told BikeBiz: "The injection of the impulse dampening material does however open up new channels to reduce the overall bulk and thus weight of handlebars going forwards, so the weight penalty can and will be countered."

At present you’ll find VibroCore within the 2015 Oozy and Spike bars, both of which use Spank’s method of CNC Bending, another process that allows the firm to fine tune not only paint finishes but the bar’s integrity at key junctions.

Also shown at Interbike was the new 2D forged Oozy trail pedal, essentially the same as the existing Spike model, but with 70 grams removed from the weight, bringing it down to 330 grams a pair. Furthermore a titanium axle upgrade is available.
