Designer working with Adidas for London 2012

Stella McCartney to design Team GB kit

Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton and the rest of Team GB will be wearing Stella McCartney designed uniforms for the London 2012 Olympics, Eurosport reports.

The fashion designer will be responsible for designing Team GB’s uniforms for the opening and closing ceremonies – with another outfit potentially in the works for athletes making it to the podium. McCartney won’t be responsible for clothing worn while the athletes compete, however.

Stella McCartney, leading designer and daughter of music superstar Sir Paul, will be working with Adidas – official sportswear partner to the Olympics and the British Olympic Association. McCartney has designed for the world of sport before, putting together Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki’s Adidas kit at Wimbledon last month.

Cycling Olympian Victoria Pendleton said: “I’m a massive fan of Stella McCartney and with London hosting the Olympic Games it is really important as the host nation to set the standards.

“To have a British designer inputting into the British kit is going to be very special."
