Swift-E is available to the trade now and weighs 16.5kgs - but Gocycle G2 pips Swift at 15.6kg

Swift produces ‘lightest folding electric bike’

A new electric folding bike is being branded one of the lightest of its kind (UPDATE: The Gocycle is actually almost a kilo lighter at 15.6kg, as was pointed out in the comments below)

Swift’s Swift-E is an electric version of the Xootr’s Swift and will be available to the trade from the start of this month.

Designed and produced by WAW Associates, the Swift-E weighs 16.5kgs. It features a 20-inch brushless front motor, thumb throttle and 36V lithium battery. It is available in red, blue or silver.

WAW Associates is the exclusive UK and Europe importer of US company Xootr’s Swift folding bikes.

WAW MD Keith Palmer said: “This adds a third product to our collection, as the Swift-E joins our existing conv- and our joint venture with Mission Cycles resulting in their electric trikes.

We are developing another two products that should be ready for the 2014 season – so watch this space.”

According to Palmer, the Swift-E has already enjoyed a warm reception in the UK which has led to a meeting with Swift’s designers in New York and a potential distribution deal to bring the Swift-E into the North American cycle market.
