You can find the revamped road tyre offering at the London Bike Show next week

Tannus launches new lightweight solid tyre

Tannus is set to launch its latest road tyre next month, the Aither 1.1, at the London Bike Show.

The solid tyre never punctures and is guaranteed to last up to 6,000 miles (9,000 kilometres) without losing any more than 1.5mm of tread. The new model promises to be as robust and hard-wearing as sister tyre Aither 1.0 but with considerably less rolling resistance, which compares more closely to the resistance of a pneumatic tyre, according to the brand.

It’s more flexible so it’s easier to fit using the tyre’s standard pin mechanism and comes at one standard inflation rate of 100 psi.

Fours sizes are available:

  • 700×23 (10 colours)
  • 700×28 (only available in Black)
  • 700×32 (only available in Black)
  • 26×1.75(only available in Black)

Tannus’s European chief distributor and executive, Jazz Walia, said: “Aither 1.1 is a step up from Tannus and puts us as a credible and economically sound alternative to conventional tyres.

“They are ideal for training, commuting and for casual riders who don’t want the hassle of taking a tool kit and pump with them if they go out for an afternoon ride.

“We are talking about an innovative 21st century design unlike anything we have seen before. This is the future – a solid no hassle, stress-free tyre."

Tannus said it is already in discussion with distributors to stock the new tyres, which have a weight of around 380g.

After their show debut they will go on sale through the Tannus site and retailers. The 1.0 is slightly cheaper at £99 a pair compared to the 1.1, which is £119.80 a pair.
