A spectacular opening ceremony for the Tour de France was held in the Leeds Arena earlier this evening.

Tour de France kicks off in proper Yorkshire style

10,000 paying spectators gave huge cheers to the home riders at the team presentation night for the 101st Tour France. TV presenters Jill Douglas Sebastien Piquet hosted tonight’s team presentation at the Leeds Arena. The evening ended with a set of four songs from Yorkshire rock group Embrace. 

The teams were introduced in front of Opera North, which played as the teams rode in.
