TREK unveil new Powerfly pedal-assist MTB range

Trek is unveiling a new generation of pedal assist mountain bikes with the release of the all-new Powerfly FS, Powerfly LT, and Powerfly hardtail.

Powerfly FS is equipped with 130mm of front and rear suspension, while Powerfly LT (Long Travel) provides 150mm for increased capability in the roughest terrain, and the all-new Powerfly hardtail delivers efficiency for traditionalists.

The new full suspension Powerfly also features the latest in Trek’s mountain bike frame technology, including Boost hub spacing and the new Straight Shot down tube with Knock Block frame defense for improved mountain bike performance.

Powerfly LT models include Trek’s exclusive RE:aktiv damper, first released in 2015, which Trek claim is the most responsive suspension available. Powerfly hardtail features an upgraded Alpha Platinum Aluminum frame with an E2 tapered head tube for increased responsiveness and lower weight.

All Powerfly models are equipped with a reliable Bosch Performance CX motor designed specifically for off-road use. The motor offers 75Nm of torque, allowing riders to fly up even the steepest climbs. All models are equipped with the Bosch 500wH battery for longer life. Trek’s exclusive Motor Armor offers additional protection to the weatherproof Bosch system. Top-spec versions of Powerfly round out the system with SRAM’s eX1 drivetrain, designed to offer ideal gear ratios for the Performance CX motor.

Select Powerfly FS and Powerfly LT models will come equipped with “mid-fat” 27.5 x 2.8˝ tires rolling on 40mm rims. With the added power of pedal assist, the additional traction and stability of wider tires are a welcome addition to the burliest Powerfly models. In order to maximize efficiency and save weight, hardtail Powerflys will come standard with 29˝ tires, while Powerfly women’s models feature more proportional standard 27.5˝ tires for better fit and easier maneuverability.

With new full suspension, long travel, and hardtail options, there’s a Powerfly for any rider who wants to go farther and explore more terrain than ever before. All Powerfly models are available now at European Trek retailers.
