Universal Cycles PLC has signed a license deal with Walt Disney Consumer Products and is to produce Disney Princess cycle and accessory ranges.
Jeremy Robinson, a house account manager at Universal, said:
“We are very pleased to have been chosen as the company to partner WDCP on this brand and range development is already well under way. We have confirmed selections in many of our existing multiple and retail accounts and we are looking forward seeing the range in the shops early next year.”
The range consists of 10 models from trikes to 16” wheel cycles and a comprehensive accessory range, including many new products not currently available under any other licensed brand, said Robinson.
All the cycles will be supplied in graphic-rich cardboard boxes.
The ten models include a trike with parent push handle at £29.99, two scooters with prices starting at £19.99, 10" wheel bikes from £39.99, 12" wheel bikes from £49.99, 14" wheel bikes from £69.99 and 16" wheel bikes from £89.99.
"The big plus with these is the quality and features," promised Robinson.
"All the models are loaded with added value goodies and will knock the stuffing out of other licensed girls’ cycles. They all have excellent frame designs.
“We have always felt our product development and distribution capabilities made us the ideal partner for any number of licenses, it was just a case of being sure we had found the right opportunity. The range we have put together will be a refreshing change from many of the existing licensed bikes on the market as they will benefit from our expertise and are not simply an existing toy bike finished in a different colour with a few named graphics thrown at it.
"The Princess bikes will offer outstanding quality, features and value and will prove what a real bike company can do with a great range and a strong licence. This brand is already outselling every other licensed cycle range in the US."
