Vee Rubber’s UK agent has drastically expanded its tyre catalogue to include a premium level product, with the extra stocks resutling in a warehouse move.
Hamish Stewart, director at BicycleBitz, told BikeBiz: "Vee Rubber is growing fast. From a standing start we have now got 21 wholesale customers. We are also moving into bigger warehouse premises. The new warehouse is still located in Scunthorpe, partly for the convenience of some of our larger customers."
Unlike the firm’s prior shared warehouse, BicycleBitz now has a space all of its own, which is some four times larger than the old unit.
As part of the firm’s preparation for wider distribution, BicycleBitz has appointed Adam Cadle to run the day to day management of the building. An experienced cyclist, Cadle typically covers circa 250 miles a week.
"BicycleBitz turnover is up 3.7 times year on year and that’s excluding Vee Rubber trade," added Stewart. "Vee’s premium tyre line is now in stock, offering retailers tyres up to £30 and with significant performance advantages."
BicycleBitz is the UK source for Tufo, Fasi Reflective wear, Jos/Spanninga lights and Velox.
On these other labels, Stewart said: "All of our agencies have minimum carriage paid amounts and by bringing them in house they could be despatched together with tyres and other items. This would mean the wholesalers would not have to achieve individual carriage paid orders with all the different Principals. We have the room now to do these things."
