Velobrands has added high-end wheel label Knight Composites to its portfolio.
With a focus on aerodynamics, Knight’s design process focuses on the the trailing edge of the rim, which the brand now calls Trailing Edge Aerodynamic Manipulation or TEAM tech.
TEAM tech places greater emphasis on how the air flows from the rim, to the tire and onto the downtube and rest of the frame. Knight designer Kevin Quan, the man behind the iconic Cervelo P3, as well as the firm’s design team, suggests that Knight’s wheels are sturdier in crosswinds and more aerodynamic than much of the market competition.
The braking surface on Knight’s rims are thicker than many other clincher wheels on the market. Rigorous testing of the braking surface found that their wheels run considerably cooler than most do to the added material. This reduces the chance of rim fatigue and brake track failure as a result of heat and is a key reason why the firm are backing product with a three year warranty.
