Manufacturer to work with 'TeXtreme Spread Tow Fabric' for bicycle applications

Velocite signs carbon R&D deal with Oxeon

Velocite has signed a research and development agreement with carbon fibre specialists Oxeon to identify the optimal layup for bicycle frames using the manufacturer’s own TeXtreme Spread Tow material.

“We are very excited to be working with Oxeon in discovering the best application of their advanced TeXtreme Spread Tow material for bicycle frame manufacture.” said Victor Major, the CEO of Velocite.

“Our company mission is to make the highest performance bicycle frames by employing the most appropriate materials and technologies. The aim of this research project is to allow us to maintain our frame stiffness and handling leadership well into the future” said Major.

As well as being very light, the TeXtreme fibres are aligned perfectly and the cloth is effectively two-dimensional allowing optimal resin content of the resulting prepreg material and strong inter layer bonding.

The results of this research and development project are expected by the end of 2012.
