Alan Finden-Crofts, one of the co-owners of Raleigh UK, tonight celebrated 25 years of the Derby Trading Company, the Taiwan based Asian sourcing and supply company created by Finden-Crofts shortly after he and his business partner acquired Raleigh from TI in 1987.
DTC president Victor Sun has been working in the bicycle business for 42 years and is now retiring. He has been with DTC since 1987.
Raleigh is also celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
All three landmark events were marked by a party at the five-star Howard Plaza hotel in Taipei. Hundreds of Raleigh/DTC customers were treated to a posh buffet and were gifted with Raleigh keepsakes, including heron head cufflinks for men.
Another gift for all guests were copies of Tony Hadland’s recently published book on Raleigh. This is a warts and all history, and describes in detail the many trials and tribulations – and successes – of Raleigh since it was founded in 1888.
Sun’s replacement at DTC is Jane Wang.
