75% of entrants to the ride are new to cycling

Victoria Pendleton launches Cycletta at Tatton Park

The publicity drive for the new women-only mass cycle ride Cycletta continued this week with Victoria Pendleton drumming up support at Tatton Park earlier this week.

Pendleton has been a key figure behind Cycletta, which will take the form of two cycle events this year – one of which will start and finish at Tatton Park on Sunday October 2nd, the other at ZSL Whipsnade in September.

Cyclists of all abilities are welcome, many of whom will be raising money for good causes, including Lead Charity Macmillan Cancer Support.

“Through Cycletta I want to inspire women to join me and cycle – as a hobby, a sport, a way to get fit and healthy or a way to escape,” enthused Pendleton.

“Whatever your reasoning, cycling can improve your life and Cycletta events will bring women of all abilities together to take on their own cycling challenge.”

Cycletta is also working with Skyride and British Cycling to encourage women onto bikes. An impressive 75 per cent of entries into Cycletta so far are new to cycling events.
