Wattbike steps in as Lincoln GP sponsor

The 2018 edition of the Lincoln GP will see event organisers partner with Nottingham-based smart bike brand Wattbike.

Dan Elmore, race director, said: “We’re incredibly happy to have partnered with Wattbike. The opportunity to include our famous Michaelgate climb in the Wattbike Hub app will give cyclists across the UK the chance to understand the speed and effort required to compete in the races, as well as compare themselves against the best!

“It’s important to remember that the race only exists with the support of companies like Wattbike, who are keen to work with us to enable the races to continue. We hope the use of the Wattbike app will bring the Lincoln Grand Prix to cyclists year-round and help grow interest in the event further.”

The Michaelgate climb will be added to the iPhone and Android companion app, the Wattbike Hub, alongside climbs such as Alpe d’Huez and Mont Ventoux. This will give anyone riding a Wattbike Atom the chance to experience the climb and compare their effort to the professionals of the British Peloton.

The Smart bike brand will sponsor the races King of the Mountain prize linking the race and the Wattbike intrinsically. James Vickers, PR and marketing manager at Wattbike added: “We’re incredibly happy to have partnered with the Lincoln Grand Prix, it really is a classic.

“It allows the riders of our latest product, Wattbike Atom, the opportunity to experience the level the professionals ride at. The Atom is the most accurate Smart bike available for home use, as a training platform it is unrivalled and this adds to the overall experience our customers get.”

The Race takes place in the Lincoln on the 13th May 2018.
