UK manufacturer Modern Times has launched what it says is the world’s lightest full size electric bike.
Weighing in at 13.6kg, the Cytronex Powered Cannondale Capo uses Modern Time’s Cytronex power assistance and lighting system. The system is fitted at the firm’s Winchester base to existing brands including Cannondale, Genesis, Ridgeback and Claud Butler and is designed to blend into the look of the bike; The battery looks like a water bottle, the motor is the approximate size of a hub dynamo and the electronics are concealed.
Modern Times has also brought its tech to the commuter sector by produced ultra light single speed bikes, with the Cannondale Capo and Genesis Day One. This latest Cytronex single speed system adds powerful hill climbing and fast acceleration with a sensor that monitors pedalling speed to ensure the correct amount of electric power is applied.
The battery can be fully recharged from empty in one and a half hours using two pence worth of electricity, according to Modern Times.
The firm now boasts five bikes in its range including what might be the lightest mutli-geared electric bike in the world – the Cytronex Powered Cannondale Capo Synapse Flatbar, which weighs 12kg.
